Major Medical Health Insurance is a health insurance plan that is provided by an individual for himself, his spouse only, his children only, or his entire family. Individual major medical insurance is built to cover the lion's share of medical expenses that an individual or his family might incur in any given calendar year. All claims payments are payable to the various medical providers, not to the individual.
There are a full range of plans that can meet the needs of an individual or family at a cost that will fit their budget. The more benefits that are provided by the plan you select such as low doctor co-pays and low prescription drug co-pays, the more the plan will cost. If the plan you've selected is allowing you to pay a higher deductible and generally more of the out-of-pocket expenses, then you can count on your premiums being lower. There is no "magic bullet" to health insurance. Like new automobiles, the more fancy features and luxury you receive or purchase, the more the auto will cost you.
There are a full range of plans to choose from. From temporary coverage that covers only a short term medical need, to regular P.P.O. plans, to medical health savings accounts (medical IRA) to premium saver low cost health plans, there is a plan for you. Our recommendation to you is to shop carefully. If you have never heard of the plan or company, please be cautious. There are no such bargains in health insurance, life insurance, or parachutes! If the company is using some "pitch" such as "insurance for the self-employed", and they want to schedule an appointment with you, then, please, run the other way! If an agent is being sent to your home or business, then they are receiving a large commission advance and they are working for themselves, and not for you. The premiums start off low and then go sky-high in a year. When you submit large claims later, you are in for the surprise of your life. Agents who represent BlueCross, Unicare, Aetna, Assurant, or Golden Rule/United Health Care are receiving a low commission and they must produce a large volume of business similar to a car insurance agent. Generally, they are in the business for the "long haul" and they want to keep your business year after year.
We represent BlueCross BlueShield of Texas, Unicare, Aetna, Assurant, and Golden Rule/United Health Care. We would love to serve your long term health insurance needs.
