On January 1, 1981, Jackson Insurance and Financial Services began with the most humble of beginnings. Charlie Jackson, agency founder, tires of being on the road away from his wife, Nancy, and his three children, ages 6, 8, and 11. After 10 years of traveling nearly every inch of East Texas for a Dallas based TV and appliance distributor and having his territory cut each time he had a sales increase, Jackson looks for a new profession that allows him to keep his feet under his own kitchen table. After a soul searching process and many hours of prayer, Charlie assures his loving and always supportive wife that he wants to pursue a career in life insurance. With his school teacher wife’s $16,000 annual salary and two older model “gas guzzlers” to drive, the career of Charlie Jackson is launched into the world of Life Insurance and Financial Services.
Jackson begins his career with the Southwestern Life Insurance Company, based in Dallas, Texas. Pat Neal is the Waco, Texas branch office manager and Jack Bone is an agency trainer. Mr. Bone, with the patience of Job, spends several months training Jackson and finally gets Charlie up and flying along in his new career. With nothing more than a one-room office, a small desk, two pictures, a chair, and a contact paper covered cardboard box for files, Jackson begins his new career. His office, located on the second 
floor of a 100 year old building in downtown Hillsboro, Texas, can be reached by climbing a very steep flight of stairs which would give even a young and healthy person pause before climbing them! Jackson is replacing 50 year career Southwestern Life agent J. M. “Pop” Boone, age 84, who makes it very clear that he will phone Charlie and meet with him DOWNSTAIRS! As 1981 draws to a close, Jackson is named Southwestern Life Insurance Company’s Rookie of the Year.
After several years as a sole practitioner, Charlie Jackson brings in a co-general agent with many years exposure to the life and health insurance business. After living, breathing, and sleeping the family business for 14 years while also rearing the couple’s three children, Nancy Jackson joins the family agency full time and says good-bye to a classroom full of kindergartners. She becomes licensed in 1994 in life, health, property, and casualty, but decides to exclusively pursue the life and health insurance business with her husband.
This dynamic and resourceful husband and wife team has been responsible for the pay out of over six million dollars in life insurance death claims, over twenty-five million dollars in health insurance benefits, hundreds of thousands of dollars in disability (sick or hurt) claims, and literally thousands of dollars of medical accident benefits. Charlie Jackson commented, “I’m proud that I have insured people and their Human Life Value to their families and businesses.” The Jackson’s have helped keep many families in their own world after the death of a breadwinner. Helping to keep little boys and girls in their own home and school, continuing to participate in scouts, piano lessons, or little league has always been the Jackson’s most treasured accomplishment. The life insurance policies written by Charlie and Nancy Jackson have literally performed miracles, making sure that mom can stay home with her children and have college funds available for them when the time comes. The Jackson’s believe that individuals and their “Human Life Value” are the most important pieces of property in the world, and are often the most over-looked and under-valued.
Since 1981, with the Rookie of the Year award, Jackson Insurance and Financial Services has continued to receive numerous awards and honors. Beginning with 1998, the agency has qualified for nearly every annual “Top Producer” award trip, sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. In 2004, Jackson Insurance and Financial Services was named the #4 Top Producer in the entire state of Texas for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas Individual Health Insurance Products.
From a tiny rented office in a nearly empty historic building, to the Jackson’s own office building purchased in 1998 three blocks down the street, the agency has come a long way. More than 27 years have passed, and Jackson Insurance and Financial Services has not changed, nor will they ever change from their bedrock values. The agency still clings mightily to its beginnings, and remembers with each and every client how important individual service, trust, integrity, and character are. Our service to you, our friends and clients, is our most treasured and honored reason for our existence. We truly do love our work and we feel a strong calling from God to continue. We strongly believe that the service we provide ranks just as important as the medical doctor or the minister. After all the prayers are said and the medical professionals have done all that they can do, our legacy continues to live on with the surviving family or business for years to come. With a simple stroke of a pen, lives have been changed forever.
